- Known input
- Name the process that creates the hot stream and the utility or product that takes the heat. Cooling-water quality, glycol concentration, CIP chemicals and solids loading change both plate selection and gasket or brazing compatibility.
- Supplier confirmation
- Ask whether the quoted construction can be opened, chemically cleaned in place, or only flushed. Confirm duty cycle: continuous HVAC, batch pasteurization, or intermittent CIP heat recovery each needs a different fouling allowance.

plate heat exchanger
Plate Heat Exchanger Sourcing coordinates factory quotes for a plate heat exchanger when the buyer can name both fluids, the four inlet and outlet temperatures, the two flow rates, quantity and destination. A published plate count is not a thermal duty. Public leaflets that list plate and gasket options are comparison references, not a transfer of another maker’s products to this desk.
This site is an independent sourcing partner. We do not manufacture exchangers, keep warehouse inventory, or sign factory acceptance. Read the four-temperature RFQ note before treating a connection size as the duty. Adjacent shell-and-tube units belong on a different inquiry family.

Machine
Plate pack or brazed core, frame or casing, stated channel dimensions, plate material grade, copper brazing or gasket compound, and connection standard on the quoted duty.
Delivery
Export crate, Incoterm, inland haul to the named US destination, and whether insulation, drip trays or spare gaskets travel in the same shipment.
Site
Piping, hangers, drain valves, insulation labor, and pull space to open a gasketed pack. Installation hours are not assumed inside the machine price.
Resolve procurement unknowns
A plate heat exchanger RFQ is comparable only after each bidder uses the same two circuits, the same cleanliness assumption and the same allowable pressure drop. A hydrostatic shop test is not a thermal acceptance record.
- Known input
- Buyer states both fluids, hot-side and cold-side inlet and outlet temperatures, both flow rates, working pressure, quantity and destination. Channel dimensions in millimetres, if already constrained by an existing nozzle pattern, belong in the same brief.
- Supplier confirmation
- Each factory must return a selection calculation at those conditions, name plate grade, copper brazing or gasket compound, predicted pressure drop on each circuit, and the cleaning method that construction can actually take.

What changes when the duty or fluid changes
Which procurement scope is covered by plate heat exchanger?
What changes between products?
Switching from a water-to-water HVAC duty to a process fluid with chlorides or ammonia-adjacent chemistry can force a different plate grade and may rule out copper brazing. Flow rate and viscosity changes alter channel selection even when the footprint looks similar.
What must be cleaned or replaced?
Gasketed packs may require spare gaskets, hanging bolts and plate-handling space. Brazed cores cannot be opened plate by plate; cleaning method is typically chemical or flush only. Spare plates are not implied in a machine price unless listed.
How is the first good output verified?
Agree which temperatures and flow rates constitute first good heat transfer. A leak-free hydrotest at shop pressure is not the same as meeting the approach temperature at the stated flow rate. SAT remains with the named supplier and the buyer’s instruments.
Who owns tooling, installation, shipping, training and commissioning?
Those items are included only when the quotation names them. Frame hardware, lifting lugs, export packing, insulation, piping, FAT witness and spare parts each need a yes/no line. Throughput claims without the four temperatures are not an acceptance basis.
